Default Tanking: what's reasonable?

Tanking: what's reasonable to expect from my poor warrior?
I have no idea how much damage/aggro a normal tank should be able to absorb. Lately I have been trying to built a tank revolving around Mending and Live Vicariously, both powered by a zealous sword and Balthasar's spirit. I also carry Shield stance and Bonetti's defence. The last three slots would be reserved either for either more healing spells (healing breeze, orison, signet) or some way of spiking the opponent. I have considered Shatter Hex and Bane Signet + Holy Strike.

I just arrived in Amnoon Oasis and am looking for a good warrior built to take on the desert with. I would really like to make use of my secondary profession, and not just play stance tank all day...

Mending is not a general tankingskill: http://guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3037579

Your /Mo secondary doesn't add much to your tanking ability.

You'll need things like dolyak, watchyourself, stances etc.

Don't bring healing spells.

Btw, if you play in pugs a lot, try finding a good guild to play with instead. If you play in pugs then there's no point in tanking.

I have enjoyed W/R and W/Mo both.

From the Ranger side, Antidote Signet and Troll Unguent with 8 in Wilderness Survival make for nice anti-degens.

From the Monk side, Holy Veil works well to kill hexes and Mend Aillment cures almost any condition except burning.

Both skills from each profession help a warrior considerably, getting rid of degen's, weakness, and blind are invaluable.

I find the Monk secondary to be slightly more valuable than Ranger though.
